Acupuncture.

Christine Fife has specialised in acupuncture for the relief of pain.   Acupuncture can be used very effectively to complement orthodox treatment or as a stand alone therapy.  It is very useful in alleviating pain and increasing the animal’s own resistance to disease.

Veterinary acupuncture is probably over 2000 years old!

Herbal Medicine.

The oldest form of natural medicine where most of our conventional drugs have been sourced from.  Yet, unlike conventional medicine, no drug resistance has been found.

Herbal medicine is commonly used in our day to day lives, for example, Echinacea to help boost our immune system,  Arnica for bruises,  Valerian as a neuromodulator.

Merisha Canine Massage.

Our head nurse Beth is qualified in Merisha canine massage.   Massage can be used alongside conventional medicine and some acupuncture therapy.

Below are some symptoms that your dog may benefit from massage therapy:

  • Always sleeps laying on one side
  • Resents certain areas of the body being touched
  • Unusual behaviour, aggression or subdued
  • Lameness or an uneven gait
  • Difficulty or reluctance to exercise
  • Muscle twitching
  • Unable to get into a car on up stairs
  • Stiffness after laying down

Massage therapy works to increase circulation and helps to remove lactic acid and toxins from the muscles.  It is very effective at helping to stimulate and improves the function of the nervous system.  Massage can also help to desensitise and relax dogs who do not like being touched.

Please note all massage treatments must have a referral from your vet.

Acupuncture, Herbal & Massage treatments can be used to complement conventional medicine or used alone where appropriate.
